FRENCH

BULLDOGS & BUBBLES

AT THE STUNNING

CHATEAU LA DURANTIE

As a documentary wedding photographer, I’ve already had the pleasure of shooting at Chateau La Durantie before Ross & Joanne’s day.

Anytime I get ‘Chateau La Durantie’ come through into my enquiries inbox, I’m always thoroughly excited to go back to this region of France, an area in which I spent many summers growing up.

THE CHATEAU

I love travelling to this venue from whatever my local accommodation is. Driving through small villages like Lanouaille, or the sun drenched rolling fields and orchards of the Dordogne, slowly making my way to Chateau La Durantie. It’s hard not to stop 100 times to photograph all the things I see on the way.

The interior of Chateau La Durantie is something truly special. A grand, bright stone staircase leads to a labyrinth of rooms with high ceilings, with windows opening out onto the grounds on either side. The bridal suite is absolutely stunning, and has one of my favourite morning prep rooms to shoot in.

The extensive grounds and gardens feature a secluded pool, perfect for a poll party to nurse hangovers the day after your wedding. Alongside this, there is the stunning cypress tree avenue, leading to the stone dome structure at the edge of the grounds, the perfect place to hold your ceremony.

THE RUNDOWN

After having a very fun and enjoyable video call consultation to meet each other and run through the ins and outs of their day, Ross & Joanne (and their Frenchies, Bao and Brioche! 🐶) told me they’d let me know their decisions on their photography plans in a weeks time.

As I’m recounting to my wife how good the chemistry we had together was 10 minutes later, I get a text from them telling me that they wanted to move forward with me as their photographer! I knew we were the perfect match, so I was super excited to book them in.

Their day was a perfect match of a classy but slightly wild party. Starting with the most beautiful and emotional ceremony, and ending with the lads with their shirts off, on each others shoulders and dancing the night away.

We also had champagne towers, (which got sprayed F1 style at their guests!) A beautifully prepared French meal (served in my opinion in the best location, the front lawn of the house.) And ending on a surprise Firework display at the rear of the house.

SUNDAY POOL PARTY AT CHATEAU LA DURANTIE

The following day was spent by the pool, with a secret DJ set, each performed unknowingly by the guests! Ross & Joanne had secretly given their guests DJ names, and made a festival style billing with each person getting their own slot. Ending on a high note with Ross and Joanne taking over the DJ decks to play their favourite songs! 🙌

Ross & Joanne

“We’ve just got back from a weekend trip, so we’ve left all the unpacking and have just got the photos up on the tv to look through together now 😍

We’re so pleased with them 💖🤍it felt like we just relived the entire weekend of the wedding all over again!

Ross was a bit emotional, and we were just laughing about all the different moments (some of which we didn’t know were even happening!)
Thank you so much 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼”
